Copywriting Techniques You must know

Sharpening your copywriting skills is a great investment. We will love to share with you a few tricks we have picked up in our career as content creators that will help you in your journey as a copywriter.

A. Start Sith a Story

Everyone loves to listen to stories from kids and adults, male and female black and white. You would wonder why films & music still sell, why commercials these days seem a little like documentaries. The power of Storytelling cannot be overemphasized. To be a good copywriter, begin with a story and tell it so persuasively that the listener agrees with you in his mind before you even say the word BUY.

B. Make it About Your Reader

Your readers should not have trouble finding themselves in your story. Since Copywriting is about the target audience, you need to center your copy on your reader. Make your reader feel like this writing is about him and the person that wrote this copy must have put in a lot of research time studying about him. Don’t forget to be appealing and generous with words.

C. Don’t be Melancholic

Don’t sound like the sun will never shine and the clouds have nothing to offer but rain and frosty snow. If anything, make the sun shine so bright making the roses bloom and the grasses green. Everyone loves an enthusiastic sanguine salesman, be one. All I am saying is, be positive in all don’t forget the reader’s intent and what you are selling.

D. Harness The Power of Repetition

Don’t forget repetition can be rewarding and destructive.you can use repetition as a tool to strengthen memory. When you repeat a couple of key points you are able to imprint it in the reader’s mind especially when you do it subliminally. Be sure not to use the keywords one too many times, 3 times will do the trick

E. Be Trustworthy

facts and statistics don’t lie and nobody spends their time arguing with facts. Thorough research work can earn you a convincing copy that will lead to proper engagement and rewarding conversion. Don’t guess or make unnecessary assumptions in your copy as no one buys that. Use case studies and researched statistics to guide and persuade your readers to buy your product. With good statistics, you will not only sell but gain your readers trust.

F. Guide Your Readers Through Your Content

Never miss the details, in this case the more visible the details are at first glance the better. Don’t fall for the temptation of not keeping it simple. Try as much as possible to go straight to the point. Use bullet points and subheaders to highlight important information and help your readers find what they are looking for.

G. No Long Story

Put a leash on your pen or computer keyboard. Don’t assume just because you like to spend hours reading online others do the same. The longer your copy the easier it is to lose sight of the most important focus which is getting your reader to take action.  Be as brief as possible without missing out any details

H. Keep it Simple Silly

Imagine coming across a word like shenanigans or agglomeration in a copy that promotes the use of tissue paper during menstrual periods. The reader will be torn between getting a dictionary or trying another seller and in 80% cases trying simpler content is always the case. Most of your readers are not educated and psychologically they will believe the copy is not for them. Be universal with your language, NO IRRELEVANT VOCABULARIES instead, speak their language.

I.  Copywriting Formulas Will Help

Copywriting formulas exist across the internet to tap ideas from to create great copies. Depending on these formulas will help build consistency in your writing pattern.

K. Build a Common Ground For a “Yes”

If you can get your reader to say yes to you while reading your copy as many times as possible, especially when it comes to your ideology about what you are selling, the likelihood of getting a big yes on buying the product is inevitable. Build questions into your copy that only has yes as the default response to make your reader agree with you before the moment of taking action.

L. Buyers Buy Benefits Not Features

Starting a conversation with a reader with product features is rather selfish. You don’t need to make your copy about your product and its features. Focus on what your reader stands to gain and then talk about the features when he begins to endorse the product. Buyers actually buy benefits not features.

M. When Writing Long Form

It’s ok to once in a while dabble into writing long-form Copies as it can be rewarding when properly written. In writing long-form, you must think of rhythm. Holding a reader’s concentration on a long piece of writing takes real skills. You must adopt a unique tone for short but sweet sentences

N. Use a Sense of Urgency to Entice

To get consistent reaction to call to actions you must make proper use of power words. Choose these words carefully because they are persuasive words and invoke the sense of urgency in your copy. some of these words are PROVEN, NOW, FREE, LIMITED, EXCLUSIVE AND URGENT. These words have tremendous power to get your reader to take action.

O. Use Reviews

When you want to download an app, the most likely thing you will do is see how many people are using the app, their reviews, their complaints, etc. Never undermine the power of reviews and testimonials. When properly used they can increase your sales chances than all the English in the world.

P.  Incentives Can Do a Lot

Offer Incentives to your reader and use that to guide them to take action. Ofer rewards for reading, subscribing, filling a poll or a survey, something that will make them feel rewarded for their time spent reading your copy.

Q. Make an emotional connection

Emotional connections have influenced buying decisions than all the ads in the world. people are attracted to the things that make them feel something. Ego for instance has made men buy more cars than the need for cars. if you use the power of emotional connection with your audience, you will not only get them to buy your product but to commit to following your train of thought.

S. Be Smart About Headlines

The first thing people see on your copy is the headline and depending on how catchy the headline is the engagement begins. Put in more thought into choosing the headline because it will impact greatly on your readership. Your headline is the hook that pulls into fishes.
